ACL surgery?
- A dog under 5-6 years old does great with surgery and has the energy to use a “fixed” leg.
- If you let the knee of a 7-8+ year old dog heal on it’s own; they end up (after 6-8 weeks) with a “pretty good” leg and minimal pain. Which is all a 7-8+ needs or expects.
During the six weeks of healing:
- No hard running and no running at all if feasible.
- Walks = ok
- Glucosamine chondroitin helps
- Anti-inflammatories (Deramax) accelerate healing because inflammation is “erosive” and painful to boot.
