DHEA is making some inroads for small animals, dogs in particular. DHEA is a molecule of considerable power, to the extent that it’s illegal in certain sports as a performance enhancer (great for old dogs, right?) and illegal in Canada. They consider it a ‘medicine’ and not a particularly desirable one. At least without a prescription.

DHEA is excellent in dogs with diabetes, dogs with poor function in the hind legs, dogs which are older and losing strength and muscle mass, and dogs with symptoms of Cushing’s Disease.
